There were many cheers Friday when the director announced that there will a four day weekend in hopes of curbing the spread of swine flu. The idea is that everyone will stay isolated for 4 days and hopefully the flu will run its course. Some of the dorm kids thought far enough ahead though to realize that 4 days of isolation means they cannot leave their dorms at all during that time and the holiday all of a sudden turned into a prison sentence. They were encouraged to check books and DVDs out of the library so they can relax. The school play was this weekend so that was our one out of home activity as even church was cancelled. We don't want to bring people into our hot zone. But the play posed an interesting dilemma since many parents have traveled in to see it. So what was the school's plan? We all had to wear masks while we watched! This was a memorable play! After 2 hours wearing a mask, I was almost going crazy - it was uncomfortable and my glasses kept fogging up!
The grocery store was packed with BFA people after school Friday as we stocked up for the weekend. We have been encouraged not to go into town or to have any contact with our German neighbors so we don't expose them to the virus. We have all been exposed so we are all possible carriers.
